# CoinMarketCap Currency Historical Data Pages

> Per-asset **time-bucketed** market history: open / high / low / close style **price** columns plus **volume** and **market cap** by **day, week, or month**, with a **date range**, **CSV export**, and entry points to CMC’s **commercial API**. Values are **site-level aggregates** in the user’s chosen **display currency** (global header), consistent with other CMC market stats for that asset as rendered in the current capture.

**URL pattern:** `https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/{slug}/historical-data/`

**Examples:**

- Bitcoin: `https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/historical-data/`
- Ethereum: `https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/historical-data/`

`{slug}` is the same stable path segment as on the [currency detail](/currency-detail.md) page for that asset (CMC’s URL identifier; it may differ from a trading ticker). **Localized** builds may use `https://coinmarketcap.com/{locale}/currencies/{slug}/historical-data/` (e.g. `{locale}` = `ja`, `pt-br`, `zh-tw`). URLs on this surface typically include a **trailing slash**.

## Page Sections

### 1. Time Granularity

Three mutually exclusive modes (button group):

- **Daily** — one row per day bucket (as implemented for the asset).
- **Weekly** — rows aggregated by week.
- **Monthly** — rows aggregated by month.

Same asset, three zoom levels; underlying API parameters are product internals and may change.

### 2. Date Range

A **date range** control limits which buckets appear. The UI shows a selected window (format can depend on locale). That range drives how each row’s **open** and **close** are interpreted for the bucket (see table footnotes and **Methodology** / **FAQ** for definitions).

### 3. Export and API Entry Points

- **Download CSV** — exports the table for the **current** filters: granularity, date range, and whatever rows are **already loaded** (see pagination).
- **Access data via API** — links into CMC’s **commercial API** product (onboarding / docs); programmatic access runs through that product surface.

### 4. Pagination (“Load More”)

Long histories load in **chunks**. The first view shows an **initial slice** of rows; **Load more** **appends** older buckets until the series under the current filters is exhausted.

### 5. Main Data Table

**Columns (typical):**

| Column | Role |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Date** | Time bucket label (often locale-formatted). |
| **Open**\* | Opening level for the bucket (UTC range; see footnotes). |
| **High** | High for the bucket. |
| **Low** | Low for the bucket. |
| **Close**\*\* | Closing level for the bucket (UTC range; see footnotes). |
| **Volume** | Volume for the bucket (display currency / site conventions). |
| **Market Cap** | Market cap for the bucket (same display context). |

**On-page footnotes (paraphrased):**

- **\*** **Open:** earliest data in the bucket’s range (**UTC**).
- **\*\*** **Close:** latest data in the bucket (**UTC**), as described by the page footnotes.

**Open / close** here means **CMC’s UTC summary** for that bucket. For supply, volume, and market-cap definitions, pair column labels with **Methodology** and **FAQ** for exact definitions.

### 6. Display Currency

Fiat (or equivalent) from the **global header** drives how monetary columns are **shown** (labels and conversion) for the table.

### 7. Breadcrumb and Back Navigation

Typical trail: **CoinMarketCap** → `/` · **Cryptocurrencies** → `/coins/` · **{Asset}** → `/currencies/{slug}/` · **Historical Data** (terminal crumb; linking behavior can vary). A **back** control returns to `/currencies/{slug}/` for the same slug.

### 8. FAQ Module

Expandable Q&A **below** the table; topics and count **vary**; **Show more** may reveal more items. Use **expanded visible copy** when exact wording matters.

## 10. Agents and Automation

- **URLs:** default path above; optional `/{locale}/` prefix when serving localized pages.
- **Dynamic UI:** Changing range, **Daily / Weekly / Monthly**, or **Load more** changes which rows exist; a single HTML fetch often reflects **only the loaded slice** until more rows are fetched.
- **Stable pulls:** **CSV** (UI-aligned export) and the **official API** give reproducible series; scraped cells mirror **one render state** only and should not be treated as stronger than the exported/API-backed series. Client **hydration** means first HTML can be a **partial** view of the full interactive table.
- **Crawler note:** Some `/currencies/...` paths include **Googlebot-targeted** logic that tightens **CSP**; fetched HTML for bots can differ by path. Plan automation accordingly.
