#1. OpenSea suffers email data breach
OpenSea is warning of potential phishing attacks.
An employee of OpenSea’s email vendor had shared a list of email addresses of its users and newsletter subscribers with “an unauthorized external party.”
The platform also warned users against sharing crypto wallet passwords and signing transactions posted via email links.
#2. Bitcoin shows worst quarterly performance in 10 years
Bitcoin has lost around 58% of its value in Q2 2022, its worst quarterly loss in more than a decade.
This is the worst quarterly performance for bitcoin since Q3 2011 when it lost 68.1% of its value.
Meanwhile, ETH is down 69.3% in Q2 and is on track for its worst quarter on record.
#3. 3AC caught lying to Singapore authorities
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has reprimanded crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC).
The MAS alleged that 3AC provided false and misleading information over its ownership, management, and assets under management.
This leaves the door open to further action for the firm already struggling with insolvency. The MAS is assessing if there were further breaches of regulations.
#4. Facebook begins testing NFTs on profiles
Facebook has begun rolling out NFTs for some US creators.
It is starting with Ethereum and Polygon NFTs but will soon add support for Solana and Flow NFTs.
Users will have a “digital collectibles” tab on their profiles to showcase their NFTs and will be able to turn their NFTs into Facebook posts.
#5. Binance partners top TikTok star
Crypto exchange Binance has partnered with Khaby Lame, the most-followed creator on TikTok, to increase awareness of Web3.
The influencer will act as a global brand ambassador and debunk myths surrounding the crypto and blockchain space.
Lame will also create NFT collections with Binance to enhance engagement with his fans.
