The Solana-based memecoin, which appeared out of nowhere and quickly climbed into the top 200 cryptocurrencies by total market capitalization, was severely damaged late on Thursday night by a strong bearish trend.</p><h3 id="bonk-39-s-cost-drops-by-40">BONK&#39;s Cost Drops By 40%</h3><p>Several <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency/solana-sol-prices-usd" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Solana </a>whales sold their BONK holdings when rumours of the developers of BONK liquidating their assets surfaced. As a result, BONK&#39;s market value decreased dramatically over the course of 24 hours—by a stunning 54%. Despite the sharp price decline, the memecoin is still in the black following a week-before surge of 1509.7%.</p><p>After the recent negative outburst, the altcoin&#39;s 24-hour trading volume fell by 43.40% to $63 million and its market cap fell by 0.3% to $93 million. This is a clear reaction to the market price dropping after several SOL whales started selling their BONK holdings and making huge profits. In particular, a cryptocurrency trader acknowledged on Twitter that he sold $700,000 worth of BONK soon after buying it for just $330.</p><h4>To Dump More For BONK&#39;s Price?</h4><p>However, according to information from the token&#39;s richlist, the top twenty wallet addresses own close to 50% of the token&#39;s available supply. This has caused many people to think that large wallet holders may influence and dump the cryptocurrency. Additionally, if conspiracy theories are to be accepted, some claim that Sam Bankman-Fried, a disgraced crypto billionaire, is behind it all. Bankman-Fried was a key player in the creation of Solana (SOL) and its ecosystem.</p><p>Memecoin&#39;s price recently soared as a result of the coin burn announcement, in which the creators claimed that all five trillion BONK tokens assigned to them had been destroyed. It&#39;s challenging to predict what the price of BONK will do in the future given the current volatility of the cryptocurrency market. Since BONK recently displayed signs of collapse, many observers predicted that it would finally come to an end.</p><p>In the current state of affairs, Bonk (BONK) is trading for $0.000001615. Compared to its 41% decline over the previous 24 hours, this indicates a drop of 2% in the last hour, according to cryptocurrency market tracker CoinGabbar.</p>
