<h2 id="header-0"><strong>It’s the first EVER, developer diary from Bloktopia!</strong></h2><blockquote><em>Developer Diaries aim to give a transparent view to our community on how the build of Bloktopia is progressing. We value your loyalty and passion for our project, and we will be sharing as much information as we can about 1 specific feature - hopefully at the end of each week!.We will continue to work in an agile manner, and will be adapting and optimising our roadmap continuously. That is the nature of building a metaverse. So, some things we share here, might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.</em></blockquote><p>It’s the half way point of 2022, and what better time to introduce our new Developer Diaries, in our run up to the launch of the live Bloktopia metaverse! We recently had an <a href="https://medium.com/&#64;bloktopia/an-update-from-simon-benson-cto-93fd5828428b" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">update from our CTO Simon Benson</a> on Q2 2022. And we are now introducing Developer Diaries to give a more transparent and regular view to our community and what features we are working on.</p><p>This first update is going to touch on recruitment, and then go on to explain what our process will be for future diary updates, what format they will take, and when you can expect them.</p><h2 id="header-1">Recruitment</h2><p>At this point in time, it feels like a good opportunity to give a recruitment update, to show how the team are expanding and and what our key areas of focus are. We recently brought on board a new Art Director, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymanns/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Andy Manns</a>, again like Simon Benson and other members of the team, he is from AAA games industry, working with and for brands such as EA, Xbox and Rockstar games, amongst others. With Andy on board, the Art Department is growing fast, we have recruited a Technical Artist, 3D Environmental Artist and 2D UI Artist. They will be focused on optimising all of the performance of Bloktopia visual elements such as 3D assets, lightings, shaders, etc. And creating newer elements, like the insides of the virtual stores and further levels. This will then allow us to release a build with improved FPS/ performance.</p><p>Aside from that, we are recruiting more Unity developers and a Delivery Manager. Please let us know in Discord or Telegram if you are UK based, and interested in those positions or know anybody that might have the relevant experience. Recruitment does takes time, and for us to find the best people, hold interviews and onboard people it does, in the short-term, eat into time and capacity, but it will speed up our processes and delivery in the long term!</p><p>Our team now includes an impressive amount of experience across household brands such as Electronic Arts, Sony, Flutter Entertainment, BT Group and Bentley, to name just a few. We are looking forward to many more new faces joining soon.</p><h2 id="header-2">Developer Diaries: Hot topic of the week</h2><p>Developer Diaries will initially live here in Medium. We will look to include videos of our progress, as well as written narrative to help explain where we are at in the process and what our goals are. At this moment in time, that will help us to give the right level of detail, but over time we envisage that the diary updates might evolve into videos from our devs, and even live streamed updates straight out of the Bloktopia metaverse!</p><p>We are aiming for each entry into the diary, to specifically relate to one ‘Hot Topic’, which centres around a feature that the team is working on. This gives us the ability to do a deep dive and really articulate why we are focusing on it, and the benefits it will bring Bloktopia. That also means that we will be able to give more regular updates, as we are confident that we have enough features to give us that regularity.</p><p>So, Developer Diary #2 will happen at the end of this week. And the ‘Hot Topic’ will be our work on the Modular Stores feature, which we have been creating in VR.
