<p>Kenya’s Ministry of the Interior has suspended the operations of Worldcoin, a global identification mechanism based on iris scans, due to concerns over its data protection and legitimacy. Co-founded by DeepAI’s Sam Altman, Worldcoin aims to create a unique identification mechanism for agents in a world where AI is becoming more prevalent. However, the project’s biometric data collection and sign-up process have faced criticism and regulatory scrutiny from European data protection offices. Worldcoin has not responded to requests for comment.</p>
