ASEAN leaders are discussing a reduction in dependence on major currencies such as the US Dollar and Euro through the Local Currency Transaction (LCT) scheme. This decision is an extension of the LCT scheme, which has already been agreed upon by Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand to use local currencies for cross-border trade transactions.
