Booth points out that goods deflation is currently at its deepest level since 1936, indicating that the Fed may be overdoing its tight monetary policy. The market seems to agree, with speculation markets showing an 87% probability of a rate cut by September 18th.</p>
<p>However, the Fed's decisions are not made in isolation. Global economic factors, such as Germany's industrial sector slipping back into recession and challenges in China's property market, are creating a complex economic landscape. These factors, combined with weakening consumer confidence and increasing credit card charge-offs in the United States, suggest that the idea of a "soft landing" for the economy is becoming less likely.</p>
