Telegram will begin cooperating with appropriate authorities by disclosing user data in response to legitimate legal demands.
When users break the rules of Telegram, CEO <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/uae-requests-consular-services-for-pavel-durov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pavel Durov</a> said on September 23 that the app would reveal their IP addresses and phone numbers. According to author and international blockchain specialist Anndy Lian, the policy amendment is problematic. Especially, for privacy-preserving technology since it goes against Telegram’s core ideals.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-users-privacy-concerns">Users Privacy Concerns</h3>
In response to concerns over the possible criminal use of the Telegram network.The new policy signifies a substantial shift in the standards for users. A month after Durov’s <a href="https://thenewscrypto.com/telegram-issues-statement-regarding-co-founder-pavel-durov-detention/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">detention</a> in France, the policy change took place.
Users’ privacy may be at risk as a result of Telegram’s latest policy change, although the app’s primary goal is to reduce criminal behavior. A combination of human moderators and artificial intelligence algorithms was used by Durov to purge Telegram Search of any “problematic content” in an attempt to make the app safer.

Though unexpected, Telegram’s new policy is typical of the leading online chat applications in the globe. According to the privacy rules of the app, WhatsApp—which is presently the most popular communication app—is notorious for sharing user data with law authorities.
