Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, and the SEC have had a rocky history for quite some time now. He was slammed with another lawsuit concerning his tweets that said he had secured funding to take Tesla private for $420 per share and this led him to pay a $20 million fine in 2018. The current investigation therefore does concern whether Musk timed disclosure of his Twitter stock purchases appropriately to inform shareholders.
