U.S.-based public <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/blockstream-aims-for-bitcoin-profit-with-mining-rig-investment-ahead-of-2024-halving/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">mining companies</a> reached a record share of 26.7% of the global Bitcoin <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/impending-bitcoin-halving-may-trigger-major-hashrate-decline-say-experts/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">hashrate</a> in September 2024, marking the fifth consecutive month of growth. This trend highlights the resilience and adaptability of major players, despite the falling profitability in the sector.
According to JPMorgan, the combined market capitalization of 14 publicly listed U.S. mining companies stands at approximately $20 billion, though it has decreased by 3% in the first half of September. <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/hut-8s-q2-2023" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Hut 8</a> emerged as a leader, with its stock rising 11%, while <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cleanspark-doubles-down-on-bitcoin-mining-with-55m-expansion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CleanSpark</a> showed the worst performance, dropping 12%.
