A large chunk of virtual worlds are still empty. Still, there is hope regarding the metaverse. A latest article from Meta Newsroom says, “For Those Using Metaverse Technologies, the Impact Is Real”. From students to professionals, the article mentions a variety of answers from industry experts. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-metaverse-is-helping-many-strong">Metaverse Is Helping Many</h2> 
CEO and co-founder of FundamentalVR, Richard Vincent, believes the ability to train in a safe and accessible environment can substantially help underdeveloped countries lacking surgical training. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), a federal U.S. agency, 310 Million major surgeries are performed annually. 
A leading U.S.-based non-profit health organization, <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/06/10/mayo-clinic-doctors-using-metaverse-technology-for-surgeries/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Mayo Clinic</a>, is working with healthcare service provider Surgical Theater to assist surgeons in the metaverse. A Mayo Clinic neurosurgeon says, “When you overlay the entirety of the anatomy on the patient, you can see those. So that really levels up the safety.” 
Marcus Rashford, English professional footballer playing for Manchester United, used the technology while recovering from his injuries. He believes such technologies are changing lives across industries. Founder of metaverse sports trainer Rezzil, says “Virtual reality is transforming the way athletes of all levels train”. 
Welders are benefiting from the metaverse too. CEO of StrataTech, a student-first education company, explains how Virtual Reality (VR) helps in reducing margin of error. Additionally, it increases students’ focus on key aspects. This renders him/her more employable. 
German air carrier Lufthansa Group’s Heike Birlenbach says they are using metaverse technologies in product development, training, and sales. They are expanding their reach this way than the orthodox methods. 
Nanome, a company focused on drug design, is using VR technology for visualizations in chemistry. Its founder Steve McCloskey says, “When students use virtual reality to model structures in 3D, they can immerse themselves and engage with molecular data on a whole new level”. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-meta-s-dreams-down-the-drain-strong">Meta’s Dreams Down the Drain</h2> 
Meta Platforms, a technology company, promoted the concept of the metaverse after their rebranding. However, the promising dream went down the drain only after a year. The company lost almost 70% of its market cap in 2022. Experts believe they poured Billions in its research and development arm Reality Labs. 
Recently, the company unveiled Meta Quest 3, the latest gadget in its VR fleet. The announcement came a few days before another tech giant Apple revealed their mixed reality (MR) goggles Vision Pro. However, Apple never even mentioned the word ‘metaverse’ during the WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC). 
The iPhone rights bearer explained the product is more inclined on spatial computing.
