Meta has announced a collaboration with mobile chip giant Qualcomm to develop chips for the metaverse industry.The agreement allows Meta to design and build silicon for the next generation of Meta&#39;s VR applications, including future headsets for its Meta Quest line of devices, using Qualcomm&#39;s XR technology, which is geared for extended and virtual reality workloads.While the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-news-english/tag/metaverse-nft" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> metaverse company</a> has previously focused on the software side of the computer equation, Meta is making attempts to include more efficient and powerful CPUs into its products. The company has recently formed a collaboration with Qualcomm, one of the world&#39;s largest fabless mobile chip vendors, to assist it in producing silicon specifically intended to perform metaverse functions.The custom chips will use Qualcomm’s XR technology,  which incorporates virtual reality and extended reality features.The multi-year collaboration was released without details, with a press statement claiming that each company&#39;s technical teams will increase their collaboration to reach common VR goals.The latest generation of Meta Quest 2 headsets feature Qualcomm XR CPUs, which are based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 technology, which was announced in 2019. This new collaboration aims to build chips with more complex architectures to support metaverse advances, which are different from chips meant for more typical mobile functions.About the development, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated, &#34;As we continue to build more advanced capabilities and experiences for <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-english/what-is-the-metaverse-virtual-reality" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">virtual and augmented reality</a>, it has become increasingly critical to construct customized technologies to power our future virtual reality headsets and other devices. Unlike mobile phones, building virtual reality presents fresh, multi-dimensional challenges in spatial computing, cost, and form factor.”Zuckerberg also revealed that the next generation of Meta Quest headsets will use processors developed through this collaboration.Qualcomm&#39;s interest in the metaverse is not new; in March, the firm announced a $100 million metaverse fund to invest in virtual reality and metaverse ventures. According to Qualcomm&#39;s CEO, the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-english?tag&#61;Metaverse" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> metaverse sector</a> will be a &#34;very substantial&#34; opportunity, creating a new market.
