To build a fully Decentralized solution, the blockchain requires some adaptations:</p><ul><li><strong>Updated every 15 seconds</strong>, to let at least one new block be mined by the blockchain — a real-time process, but with longer time intervals</li><li><strong>Computed for any Uniswap v3 pair</strong> thanks to its concentrated liquidity innovation (by liquidity pair and fee tier), but not for classical “full range” AMM systems based on Uniswap v2, like for example SushiSwap or ShibaSwap</li><li><strong>Valued in $ per token</strong> (e.g. CIV) at each price level assuming a constant $ value of the other token (e.g. ETH) at its current market value (to USDT, e.g. $3,000)</li><li><strong>Spaced across price levels </strong>based on user-defined ranges, e.g. 1% to show CIV/ETH prices in 1% increments, summing all ticks around that price point e.g. of 20,000 CIV per ETH &#43;/- 0.5%</li><li><strong>Shaped differently, </strong>DeFi order books will be extremely surprising to traditional traders used to the “V-shaped” books implemented by human market-makers.</li></ul><p>An AMM is essentially a fee-earning system whereby liquidity providers chase the current price: therefore, the most common shape will be an inverted V (much like an “A”) or a top-heavy sliding scale, when the amount of tokens locked is constant — growing price levels make top-side tokens relatively more valuable in $ terms than bottom-side tokens.</p><p>Technically the two sides of the order book store different tokens, e.g. CIV on the top side and ETH on the bottom side. The Order Book shows $ and same-token prices, e.g. CIV per ETH, for ease of reading, using the price levels as exchange rates to value each row.</p><blockquote>Each chart shows prices across all liquidity pools, whereas order books are focused on a specific pool; therefore, their current prices may differ between the chart and the order book.</blockquote><p>Prices may also be shown in the opposite direction e.g. CIV per ETH versus the inverted direction, ETH per CIV whose price of ETH per CIV is 1/x (x &#61; CIV per ETH).</p><p>Top half of ProView</p><p>From left to right:</p><h3 id="strong-1-chart-strong"><strong>1. Chart</strong></h3><p>The graphic representation of token price versus ETH over time. This dynamic chart can be explored at different time intervals, using the dedicated menu showing default options (1 minute, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 Day) and you can also change the period covered using the bottom menu, ranging from 1 Day up until 1 Month, 1 Year and even “All”.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/d5e9848fc2f842ddaf22678c80122aff.png" /><p></p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/bbd81d76131c4fe39c9731f89e21e09d.png" /><h3 id="2-strong-defi-automated-order-book-aob-strong">2. <strong>DeFi Automated Order Book (AOB)</strong></h3><p>The price levels expressed in token and $, and the value of automated AMM orders locked into liquidity at that price level. You can change the spacing across different price levels by using the % dropdown: . In the screenshot example below, there are orders worth $1,599 at the price level of $0.153 per CIV &#61; 20,518 CIV per WETH (while keeping the current ETH price constant).</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/cf62768e689b40ac95f69a8e16a803f1.png" /><h3 id="strong-3-recent-swaps-strong"><strong>3. Recent Swaps</strong></h3><p>The latest trades in the liquidity pool, by $ price and value. So, in the screenshot example, at 1:50 am a swap worth $2,670 was completed at a price of $0.129 per CIV in the CIV/WETH pool at the 1% fee tier.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/c02cf3fd779e43b0bd16deffb303839f.png" /><p></p><blockquote>Hover your mouse on any value of the Order Book and Recent Swaps sections, to see the full value. Orders</strong></h3><p>See your Limit Trades from the most recent backwards, showing the Opened Time (in UTC, which is essentially the London Standard Time), the Status (Open, Filled or Closed), the From -&gt; To pair e.g. 2 ETH → 50,390.358 CIV, the Price (in token To per token From) e.g. 25,578.119 CIV per ETH, a little “i” to get more information on the trade, the type of Limit Trade e.g. Cheaper or Faster, and the available Actions (e.g. to Close an Open order).</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/419c431ebcf04e63b4a37c2b62b1eb7f.png" /><h3 id="strong-2-buy-sell-token-strong"><strong>2. Buy/ Sell token</strong></h3><p>Enter Amount and Price to execute your order. You may need to “Approve” the token to be traded — a blockchain security feature different from how a Centralized Exchange works, which only needs to be done once per token.</p><h3 id="3-s-strong-et-value-strong">3. S<strong>et $ value</strong></h3><p>Choose a $ value for your token, to help you set the target price which is typically not in dollars/USDT but in token per ETH or ETH per token</p><h3 id="strong-4-change-token-strong"><strong>4. Change token</strong></h3><p>Switch to ProView for another token.</p><p>Order details — example</p><p>All your Limit trades, both Faster and Cheaper, are shown in this compact view. You are also choosing a more limited set of trade types.
