You'll soon be able to browse, display and even trade non-fungible tokens directly through your TV.

Nifty Gateway and Samsung have entered into a partnership that means an NFT platform will be integrated into the electronics giant's 2022 range of QLED sets.

Consumers who own Frame and Micro LED sets are also able to download a Nifty Gateway app to gain access to these features.

While the prospect of putting NFTs on your TV may seem a little stupid at first, it actually makes sense — not least because many of us have a TV at the focal point of our living room, making it the best place to display digital artwork.

Nifty Gateway says the partnership is a crucial milestone in its mission to bring crypto collectibles to the masses — and it means more than 6,000 pieces of artwork will be available to Samsung TV owners. The company counts Beeple, Pak and Daniel Arsham among the creators who use its marketplace.

Duncan Cock Foster, one of the two brothers who co-founded Nifty Gateway, said:

"Nifty Gateway’s mission is to bring NFTs to a billion people by empowering creators and simplifying the way customers buy, sell, create, and hold NFTs. We are committed to making NFTs accessible and NFT purchasing more seamless than ever before."

The marketplace says Samsung customers will be able to access verified pieces and benefit from "state-of-the-art custody technology" — and purchase NFTs with debit and credit cards as well as cryptocurrency.

NFTs on TVs Unveiled at Unboxing Event

Samsung revealed more about what this new Nifty Gateway feature looks like during a live-streamed unboxing event for its new QLED screens.

During the broadcast, the marketplace's co-founders promised to deliver a "ground-breaking experience" — and said that Samsung's focus on high-quality displays "aligns perfectly with our vision."

According to Samsung, the new range of TVs automatically optimize settings "for a faithful rendering of the artist's intentions" — describing these screens as "an ideal digital canvas" for collectibles.

It's easy to imagine televisions becoming an increasingly popular outlet for proudly displaying NFTs — not least because they're bigger and more immersive than a smartphone or computer screen.

Few other manufacturers are embracing NFT functionality right now, but this may increase in the coming months, especially as big entertainment brands seek to cash in on their TV shows and movies by releasing complementary digital assets.
