According to code discovered by Bloomberg, Robinhood may be offering crypto gift cards on its platform.
Robinhood is reportedly planning to allow its users to send cryptocurrency as a gift to their loved ones.
According to Bloomberg, lines of code discovered in a beta version of the trading platform's iPhone app have offered clues to what's in store.
The article indicates that digital gift cards will be offered, giving the sender a chance to write a message up to 180 characters in length.
And given that a staggering number of gift cards go unredeemed every year, there also appears to be a clever feature: users will be able to retrieve their crypto if it isn't claimed by the recipient.
Robinhood has remained tightlipped on the rumors, and has refused to comment. It's unclear exactly when the feature would launch too — and whether it'll be live ahead of the all-important Christmas period.
As Bloomberg notes, code within the trading platform's beta app regularly offers insights into the features that are in the pipeline. They include the ability to invest spare change in stocks and digital assets, and an "Early Direct Deposit" functionality that enables users to receive their paychecks two days early.
