Grubhub Offers Bitcoin Rewards for Food Deliveries

Hungry crypto enthusiasts will now be able to earn rewards in Bitcoin.

Grubhub — which allows users to order food from restaurants and get it delivered to their door — has entered into a partnership with Lolli, a firm that gives consumers free BTC when they shop at eligible stores.

The promotion means that Grubhub diners will earn $5 in Bitcoin on their first order made through the app — and $1 in BTC for every purchase after that.
However, users will need to accrue $15 before they can transfer the Bitcoin to their own virtual wallet. That's a lot of fast food. Lolli's co-founder and CEO, Alex Adelman said:

"Lolli's mission is to make Bitcoin more accessible to all and in order to do that we must make Bitcoin a part of everyday life. Food delivery is a ritual for many and Bitcoin rewards makes Bitcoin a part of that ritual. Giving users Bitcoin rewards on every Grubhub order is an incredible milestone for Bitcoin adoption, making earning Bitcoin easier and more accessible than ever."

How It Works

Lolli has now been embraced by a number of big brands — including Nike, Microsoft, Sephora, eBay and Staples.

In order for shoppers to claim Bitcoin rewards, they need to add the company's browser extension to Chrome or Firefox, and then shop as normal at an eligible store. From here, they'll earn BTC at the checkout.

It's claimed that more than 400,000 shoppers have now become Bitcoin investors through the Lolli platform.

Companies offering crypto rewards have won plaudits in recent months for helping to modernize archaic loyalty schemes. Not only do they break down barriers by being accepted at multiple retailers, but the rewards can also be more attractive and easier to claim.

They've also been praised for offering a risk-free way of gaining exposure to crypto that doesn't require consumers to invest their own hard-earned cash into Bitcoin.

Lolli was founded back in March 2018 — and for evidence of why crypto rewards could prove fruitful for consumers, consider this: $10 in Bitcoin three years ago would be worth $127.60 today.
