New screenshots have revealed how Facebook plans to integrate NFTs.
Navdeep Singh, who works in Meta's product team, shared pictures to illustrate how digital art will play a role on the social network.
The images suggest NFT collectors will be able to connect their wallets to Facebook, share posts featuring their favorite images, and even add a "digital collectibles" tab to their profile.
All of this comes a month after Instagram rolled out support for non-fungible tokens.
Speaking to TechCrunch, a Meta spokesperson explained that the rollout on Facebook will be slow to begin with, and only a select number of creators will be able to share their NFTs to begin with.
In time, it's also hoped that NFT collectors will be able to crosspost on Instagram and Facebook, but the report suggests this functionality may be some way off yet.
Instagram currently supports non-fungible tokens that have been minted on Ethereum and Polygon, and it's highly likely that Facebook will do the same.
Facebook has 2.91 billion monthly active users — and this could be the first time that many of them are introduced to what NFTs have to offer.
In an interview earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg said he hopes the pilot on Instagram will allow creators and collectors to reveal more of their identity in their profile.
"It's about expression, and saying something about yourself. What do you want on your profile? What's the collection that you want to show?"
He added that he's "really excited" for the testing to commence — but said Meta is yet to decide whether its other platforms, such as WhatsApp, should take the plunge as well.
Zuckerberg also revealed that he wants to focus on "3D NFTs" — with collectors getting the chance to use augmented reality to project digital art onto physical spaces.
