Samson Mow has warned that El Salvador's Bitcoin Law could be repealed by a future government — meaning that the world's biggest cryptocurrency would no longer be legal tender.

Speaking to CoinMarketCap's The Capital conference in the metaverse, Mow described the Central American nation as "patient zero" — and said that it's crucial that President Nayib Bukele succeeds.

He confirmed that his new company, Jan3, is working with El Salvador to build digital infrastructure — and is a "critical part of the equation" as other countries consider elevating BTC to the same status as their local currency.

"If Bitcoin can bring prosperity to El Salvador, then it's not likely that another government 10 years later is going to repeal the law and ban Bitcoin. They'll see what it's done. Bitcoin will be very much ingrained in their society and it'll still be a key component of their economy."
