Digital Currency Researcher; Creator of BitGold

Siapa Itu Nick Szabo?

Nick Szabo is one of the most influential figures in the crypto space. He is a computer scientist, legal scholar and cryptographer known for his research in digital contracts and digital currency. Many of his early ideas and inventions have helped further the adoption and mainstream acceptance of blockchain technology. In 2005, he came up with the conceptual idea for “bit gold,” a type of finite digital currency, which in many ways acted as the precursor to Bitcoin.

Moreover, Szabo came up with the concept of "smart contracts" way back in 1997. His goal was to bring what he calls the "highly evolved" practices of contract law and practice to the design of electronic commerce protocols between strangers on the Internet. Due to the unmistakable similarities between his ideas and the conceptual development of Bitcoin, some internet sleuths believe that he could in fact be Satoshi Nakamoto.

Szabo holds a degree in computer science from the University of Washington in 1989 and a law degree from George Washington University Law School. At one time Szabo was a proponent of "extropian" life extension techniques, a transhumanist belief that science and technology will someday help humans live forever. In 2020, he has been very active on Twitter opposing centralization of financial sectors and political motives, and has also campaigned for trust minimalized systems.
