How to Add Cronos to MetaMask

Daftar Isi

Cronos is a permissionless layer 1 blockchain that was built using Cosmos SDK to facilitate interoperability between Cosmos and Ethereum networks. Its native token is CRO, which is the same native currency for the Crypto.org chain. For anyone who’s looking to use CRO or access any of the DApps built on the chain, it is essential to add the chain to MetaMask for faster accessibility.

In this article, we’ll quickly go through the step of how you can add the Cronos chain to your MetaMask wallet. Let’s dive in!

Install and Set up MetaMask

If you haven’t already, set up your MetaMask wallet. Once done, you can add multiple chains to it and use the same wallet across multiple chains and dApps. To add Cronos to your MetaMask wallet, access the wallet from your Extensions tab.

To make things simpler, select the Expanded View option by clicking the three dots on the top-right corner. You will be led to a new tab.

Select the colorful disc icon at the top-right corner of the screen and head over to Settings.

Head over to the Networks tab on the left side of the screen and a new screen with all the added networks to your MetaMask wallet will be visible. You can now select “Add a network” to add the Cronos chain.

Add Cronos Mainnet to MetaMask

To add Cronos to your MetaMask, you will need the network details such as the RPC URL, Chain ID and more. You can find this information from multiple sources, but it’s best to extract network details such as these from the official documentation of the chain. For Cronos, access it here. For better accessibility, I’m listing that information here too.
https://evm.cronos.org for New RPC URL; and
25 for Chain ID, CRO for the symbol, and

https://cronoscan.com/

Now, simply add this info in the various placeholder boxes.

Save the network and a new screen will automatically load that will show that the network has been added to your wallet.

Now, you will be able to transfer the tokens to your wallet and use it to access dApps on the Cronos chain.

Add Cronos Testnet to MetaMask

If you have never explored the network before and would like to get a feel of how both the network and the dApps built on it work, then you can add testnet networks to your wallet. To do that, the process is exactly the same as above but the network details will change.

To add Cronos testnet to your MetaMask wallet, add these network details.

Now you can easily access some of the best DeFi applications built on the Cronos chain easily.
