Here's a comprehensive guide on how to add Moonriver, an Ethereum-compatible parachain built on the Kusama network, to your MetaMask wallet.
Moonriver is an Ethereum
-compatible, smart contract parachain
on the Kusama
network, built using Substrate and almost the same codebase by the same team behind Polkadot
. It was intended to be an experimental blockchain platform designed to provide an interoperable and scalable framework for developers.

Moonriver has been created to provide Ethereum Virtual Machine
(EVM) implementation, allowing smart contracts that are based on Ethereum to be migrated into the Kusama environment. This allows Ethereum-based decentralized applications
(DAPps) to be redeployed on Moonriver.
Moonriver is a “sister” network to Moonbeam on Polkadot, acting as a permanently incentivized canary network. This means that code is shipped on Moonriver first and tested under real economic conditions, and once proven, it will be shipped on Moonbeam. The network currently has a total value locked
(TVL) of $67M, at the time of writing.
