Wer ist Changpeng Zhao?

Changpeng Zhao, who goes by CZ for short, is the founder and CEO of Binance, which took the world by storm and became the largest global cryptocurrency exchange in less than 180 days. Though he is now worth a whopping $1.1 billion, he grew up in a lower/middle income family. After his father was exiled from China, he relocated the family to Canada. CZ grew up in Vancouver and worked plenty of service jobs like flipping burgers at McDonalds to help support his family.

He majored in computer science at McGill University in Montreal and then went off to work at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, first building systems for matching trade orders, then developing software for Bloomberg’s futures trading on Wall Street. In 2005, CZ quit his role as head of the Bloomberg Tradebook Futures Research & Development team and moved to Shanghai to start Fusion Systems.

From 2013 onwards, he became focused on crypto and blockchain; he worked for Blockchain.info as head of technology and acted as the chief technology officer at OKCoin. Then in 2017, he started Binance, which took off almost immediately. In less than a year, Binance broke out as the largest cryptocurrency trading platform in the world.

As an expert in blockchain and trading systems, CZ has established Binance as the leading blockchain ecosystem. Binance has also launched many of its own internal sub platforms such as Exchange, Labs, Launchpad, Info, Academy, Research, Trust Walle, and Charity Foundation. In 2020, Binance acquired CoinMarketCap, Swipe.io and invested in a number of other projects.
