The basketball stadium used by Miami Heat has been officially renamed as the FTX Arena — and the exchange has marked the team’s opening game with a bang.

All of the spectators sitting in one of the arena’s 80 sections have been given $500 each — with some estimates suggesting this PR stunt would have cost a cool $150,000.

Inevitably, this caused a frenzy on social media.

Although the Miami Heat fans in other sections might be feeling a little bit left out, at least they can take solace in the fact that they have received a specially branded T-shirt.

Scanning the QR code on the back subsequently unlocks access to a special, limited-edition NFT of the FTX Arena.

Big Business

Although FTX may be a relatively new trading platform, it plans to be a part of Miami Heat for some time.

Back in May, it was announced that the exchange had signed a sponsorship deal worth $135 million with the basketball team — an agreement that will be in force for a whopping 19 years.

The venue was previously known as the American Airlines Arena.
