Plant vs Undead (PVU) is another addition to the ever-growing world of NFT games. Players have to acquire seeds and plants from the in-game marketplace using PVU tokens. Since there is no initial investment in this game, new players have to use 'free-to-play' gardeners to participate and grow their assets (plants) over time.

Plant vs Undead’s Similarity With Plants vs Zombies

The Plant vs Undead game is a spin-off of Plants vs Zombies (PvZ). Smartphone users who have played Plants vs. Zombies (or any of its other editions) are going to adapt pretty quickly to the Plant vs Undead, as both the games use the same concept.

Even the creators of Plant vs Undead (PVU) recognize that their target audience is the players who have played similar games, like Plants vs Zombies, as it is easier for them to enjoy the gameplay.

The gameplay of both PvZ and PVU is based on the fun and scary battle between plants and zombies. The plants are spread out in a field and zombies attack from the other end. The goal of plants is to keep attacking the zombies (or ‘undead’ in the case of ‘PVU’) and not let them reach the other side. If the zombies (undead) reach the other side a specific amount of times (usually between 3-5), the player loses the game.

How Does Plant vs Undead (PVU) Work?

Now let's deep dive into the gameplay of PVU by starting with a fantasy backstory. 'Planet Plants' is a fantasy world that was once a great place for both plants and animals. However, one day the Undead came onto the planet through meteors and began to spread like a disease. “Seeds” became the only hope for the planet that grow into plants with special abilities and to fight against the undead. The plants’ mission is to protect the home of 'Mother Trees' because if the undead (zombies) reach the field, the planet will be lost forever.
The game provides a total of six basic plants and one mother tree to every player. These items are free of cost and usable in all modes. To buy more powerful and unique seeds and plants, users have to earn in-game PVU tokens and make a purchase from the marketplace.
There are multiple rounds in every game and in each round a player can use up to eight unique plants and one mother tree. A basic strategy that a new player can follow is to make sure that plants of the same synergy are kept adjacent to each other, as this move will increase the attacking power of those plants. When plants successfully kill an undead, they receive a reward in the form of energy which they can use to:
  • Upgrade their plants or
  • Relocate their plants more strategically.
The multiplayer game gets even more interesting here. In addition to defending, players can summon the undead (cool, right?) and use them to defeat other players on the battlefield. The winner is of course the one who successfully safeguards their mother tree and destroys the opponent's mother tree in the same round.

Popularity Plant vs Undead (PVU) in Brazil

The NFT concept has seen a major boost in South American countries, especially Brazil, where every other major event is linked to NFT in one way or another. A popular example of the NFT popularity in Brazil includes the Copa America (football competition) Final 2021 where an NFT platform, Ethernity partnered up with the event management and introduced 75 editions of Argentinian and Brazilian teams’ NFT digital collectibles.
NFT games have also exploded in Brazil, with Plant vs Undead (PVU) leading from the front. PVU, which has a similar gameplay when compared with PVZ, (as mentioned above) is being played by thousands of players in the South American nation, as the number continues to grow.

Unique Features of Plant vs Undead (PVU)

Doesn’t Follow the “New-Idea” Risk

According to PVU’s official whitepaper, the game didn’t follow the trend of NFT games where something new and unique is introduced. The game rather banked on the success of the Plants vs Zombies franchise and hopes to provide new features (like farmer simulation and tower defense) to users who have already played the PvZ game.

Farm Mode

Farm mode is a recent update of the Plant vs Undead (PVU) game where users are provided with four seasons and 25 weather events. Every event and season has a direct effect on each plant in a different fashion. The tools available in the farm mode are watering, protection of plants from weather or bugs, activation of farming features, and so on.
As the game begins, every player is given one mother tree slot and five plant slots which they can farm and generate Light Energy (LE), something that can be exchanged for PVU tokens. To add more plant and mother tree slots, players have to acquire more land. There are farming competitions among players who hold lands of the same rarity. The winners of farming competitions are ranked on a leaderboard and awarded various forms of in-game bonuses.

Plant vs Undead (PVU) Price Prediction and Future Outlook

The PVU token hit an all-time high of $25.49 on August 21, 2021. If the Plant vs Undead (PVU) token continues to maintain its support level, a spike in its price will be observed that may double its all-time high in the upcoming weeks.
PVU token operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). At some point in time, all tokens (hundreds of them) are expected to experience huge gains in their price owing to the popularity of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world i.e. Binance. Moreover, BSC has a good reputation in the cryptocurrency world as it is compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), has low transaction fees, provides a performance boost to the tokens that operate on it. This popularity can be cashed by the PVU token to achieve its $50 target.
Another aspect to consider is the rise of the NFT market in 2021. With Axie Infinity (AXS) leading the pack, with more than $2.5 million sales so far, other NFT games, like CryptoBlades and AlienWorlds, seem to follow the same pattern as users continue to join the NFT world and gain huge rewards in a short period. The Plant vs Undead (PVU) token has the potential to ride this huge wave of NFT and boost its price to $50 or more.
The similarity with the popular Plants vs. Zombies mobile games can prove to be a big advantage for the PVU token. That game launched several years ago and still boasts a rating of 4.4 on Android’s Play Store with 100,000,000+ downloads. Moreover, the game has a rating of 4.8 and millions of downloads on Apple’s App Store. If the Plant vs Undead (PVU) game stresses their marketing strategies for which they have allotted a budget of 30,000,000 PVU tokens, they can reach their ideal target market which is Plants Vs. Zombies mobile game users and attract them towards the PVU platform.
Now, considering a lot of volatile factors, it is very difficult to say in which direction Plant vs Undead (PVU) will tilt, which is why it is advisable to keep an eye on market indicators and technical opinions of cryptocurrency experts before investing in this token.
