Bitwise Asset Management has launched a new class of investment product that lets eligible investors outside the United States hold professionally managed stock portfolios directly in their own crypto wallets.

The products, called Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs), are built on Coinbase's recently launched tokenized US stocks and use portfolio technology provider Glider to handle automatic rebalancing based on models designed by Bitwise.

The initial lineup covers three themes: an expanded version of the Magnificent Seven, a robotics strategy, and an AI leaders portfolio. The Magnificent Seven portfolio equally weights Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla alongside SpaceX. Bitwise charges a 0.15% methodology access fee, which does not include trading costs or Glider platform fees.

The structure differs from a traditional fund in one key way. Instead of transferring assets to a fund manager, investors keep the individual tokenized stocks in their own non-custodial wallets at all times. Glider adjusts the portfolio automatically to keep it aligned with Bitwise's model, without the investor needing to give up custody.

Portfolios Come to the Wallet, Not the Other Way Around

"For over a century, getting a professional model meant handing your assets to a fund," Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said. "ATPs mean you can keep the assets in your own wallet, and the model comes to you." Hougan added that the product unlocks thematic exposures more quickly and precisely than many traditional structures allow.

Because investors retain the individual tokens rather than shares in a pooled fund, those tokens can also be used in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including for lending or borrowing, subject to the risks of those protocols. Bitwise said this capability is not available through a traditional brokerage account.

The ATPs launched one day after Coinbase debuted tokenized versions of Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet on Base, its layer-2 blockchain. Bitwise's portfolio lineup suggests additional stocks may be coming to Base, as its models also include Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, SpaceX and Sandisk. Coinbase has not confirmed its next batch of tokenized stocks. Glider previously partnered with Ondo Finance to offer personalized portfolios using Ondo's tokenized stock offerings, making this a natural extension of its existing model.

The broader tokenized stocks market has reached approximately $2.49 billion in total value, up 5.18% over the past month, with 2.25 million holders and $27.28 billion in monthly transfer volume, according to RWA(dot)xyz data. Bitwise, a $9 billion crypto asset manager, has been expanding its on-chain product range this year, having launched DeFi vault curation through Morpho in January and crypto model portfolios for financial advisors in February.
